This is so easy! I found this idea on Pinterest, and decided to do it since I had the simple ingredients already. I made a video to show you just how easy it is! Love having a moisturizer that is easy to use and chemical free! Use it on yourself and baby!
Helpful Tip : Make sure your coconut oil is SOLID. It gets a little melty as you whip it, so my advice is to whip it for a couple minutes, then stick the bowl in the refrigerator for a couple minutes to get it nice and cold. OR you can put the bowl in the freezer for a little bit before you start the process, just to keep the coconut oil cold! Also, store in a COOL place, not by a heater or something…

I’ve made a version of this before. It’s awesome, and I use a large gel icepack wrapped around my mixer bowl to keep the oil from liquifying while it whips up.
awesome! another cool trick is to stick the bowl in the freezer for like 20 minutes before you start, and it’ll keep the oil cold!
I made this last night and it came out perfect but by this morning it was hard. Is that normal?
Do you live in a cold climate? Maybe you didn’t whip it long enough to get a lot of air bubbles in?
it should be the texture of like, lotion
I live in Southern California and its been warm. I’m going to make another batch tonight and whip it longer to see if that helps. Thanks!
Here’s a tip, take the bowl and put it in the freezer first, that way it stays cold while it whips up!
Nice layout!
I am going to try this over the weekend. I had considered making body butter for Christmas gifts, but a woman at a natural health shop talked me out of it because she said it was really complicated to get good results. But I can I do this. Thanks for the video!
Lisa, I love reading your blog! Thank you for sharing bits and pieces into your life as a mom. I always find your videos very helpful. You have a beautiful family.
I made my first batch right after I saw your video and I love it! My skin is softer than when I have bought any expensive body cream. I only used essential oil though. What benefits would it have if I made the next batch with Vitamin E? Love your blog Lisa, thank you!
I make it and add arnica oil to soothe my arthritic grandmother’s joints. Add a little lavender to enhance and smell yummy and all systems are go!
I have been using Extra Virgin Coconut Oil as a moisturizer after a shower, but I hate the oily feeling it leaves behind. Does the “Coconut Oil Body Butter” leave an oily feeling as well?
Yes it does. Try putting the oil on right after you shower while you’re still in there and your body is still wet. Then towel dry yourself off. It should leave your skin soft without the grease!
